When considering a replacement for winter oilseed rape, "Linseed is the go-to option" for James Chamberlain, Derby. “I’m a big fan and have always grown linseed, So after losing 131ha of oilseed rape to cabbage stem flea beetle last year, we put that land into spring linseed as well.”

Essex contractor Neil Byford says linseed provides "a good break ahead of first wheats" and "Lower slug pressure is a welcome benefit of no OSR in the rotation".

Neil also grows Canary Seed, which he describes as a "provides a low-input break."
